One of my mentors had a shop full of kitchen items and her slogan was…

“If it’s not in my kitchen, it’s not in my shop.”  I liked what she was saying and I thought about how it applied to our massage business.

“If we don’t do it on ourselves, we don’t do it on you.”

One of those areas for me is my weight; it is not where I would like it to be.  So I don’t mention or focus anything about your weight, diet food or what you must do in the gym.  What you will hear from me is how to find clarity in your mind, letting go of stuff like old beliefs, feeling great, positive thoughts with positive action, empowering you to be your best, and talking about your muscles so you get an understanding of why your muscles are the way they are.

Tip #33:  When Pain Persists, Are You Getting It Looked At?
 
We have all done it, saying, “It will get better, it always has in the past!”  The trouble is it used to but as we have another birthday, have done more things in our lives, had the stress of someone close passing, had an accident and worked through recovery, or just had a very overwhelming month at work or home, then this takes its toll on the body, the mind, and the muscles.

Did you know that the muscles are where all the stress, pain and fatigue is put for storage?  Energy is drained from the other body areas as you expect yourself to just recover as normal.  Look at all the years where there has been trauma and see how you really recovered — or are you still recovering years later…

Do you still feel that Sports injury?  Many of us have accidents and have never felt 100% since.

One client last week was in not just one car accident but 3 months later was in a second accident.  The first accident is where she went into shock and now every time she aches or is not coping as normal (before the accident), her mind goes back to that moment of impact in the accident.

What does it feel like?  You feel foggy in the head and can’t think straight.

What can you do about it?  Massage is the first step, along with the 6 coaching steps to success.

Tip #10: Rug Up Over Winter Weather

Have you already starting to notice your skin is always cold and you may be thinking “That’s how I’ve always been” but what I have found is that often this is where there is thickness and matting in the muscles.  Whenever you are going outside, wear extra clothes underneath a thick coat, scarf, long pants and warm boots.  When the muscles and skin get the chill it can turn into flu, virus, stiffness, aches and painful muscles.

I am on a Mission!  I have done lots of courses around creating income so I can be debt free and have money in the bank, with no more worrying about bills coming in.

We all have it, but what you do with that problem is what I would like to take to the next level.

This is a 4 part series on “Money and the Games It Plays on You”.

 We all have hang-ups about money.  Wouldn’t it be great to just let money flow like a waterfall that collects in a pool below?  We could, but it is first always about stuff we hold onto.

First is clean and tidy out your cupboards.  Remove what is not being used and re-pack in an order of those items used less at the back, regular use at the front.  Go through your home, the car and your work area.  Get a sense about how you feel as you do each cupboard or vacuum the car.  What’s coming up for you now?

Second is to pick up all the loose coins from around the house, in the car and at work in your area.

Something I heard last night was, “When you are in debt it keeps you enslaved; clear of debt gives you Freedom to create anything.”

What your mind thinks about is what you get.  Will you allow the negative in the world right now affect you or will you stay peaceful and do what you can to help yourself?  Did you hear the story of Chicken Little?  He said the sky was falling and yelled and screamed to everybody those words.  Far off, back up on the hill overlooking the little town was another chicken with a different view that could see everything and he said the sky was not falling; it was just a big leaf off the tree.  What view will you choose?

I think our sunny days may be less as we go into winter.  Have you got your rugs, warm rooms, and have your scarves and coats on when venturing outdoors?  Lara and the family always go up to the Adelaide hill on a late Saturday afternoon to smell the wood fires burning; it smells up the gullies and you can see the amazing colours of autumn going into winter.  It’s now time to sit quietly reading books, gather your thoughts, learn new things, reflect back over the year and see where adjustments can be made to stay on your path, meditate and listen to gentle, flowing music, move forward, collect yourself and let go of what is not needed, while waiting to step forward into spring with a burst of you!

Tip #33:  Heel Pain? 
I had an 86 year old lady the other day who told me later that a golf ball had hit her on her ankle bone.  She just kept playing, thinking it would be fine.  The bone, tendons and muscles were traumatised, which had her limping, and her cuff muscles were very tight.  Often the pain even gets worse.

This is the body’s way of telling you I need HELP.  Always use ice over the area and about  a hands-width out surrounding the area that was hit.  When her ankle got hit it broke the blood vessels and bled into the surrounding tissue.  If you are on blood thinning tablets, this will bleed even more, causing swelling in and down around that area.  The area can stay achy and stiff, sometimes 2-3 weeks after the injury.

Tip #7: ICE the Bruises
Anytime you are playing sports, are in the garden, out on the golf course or on the netball or football ground, if you get hit, punched or a ball hits you — anything that causes a bruise — always remember R.I.C.E.R., which stands for
REST
ICE
COMPRESSION
ELEVATE
REFERRAL

You may be saying, “What does that do?” 

This is a way to remember what needs to be done first in helping a person with bruises.

Rest by stop doing the activity you are doing.

Ice makes the area very cold and stops the blood vessels from bleeding into and around other areas of the muscles.  What the ice does is it makes that area very cold and closes up the hole where the bleeding is coming from.

Compression is wrapping a bandage around the area after it is cold to stop swelling into the tissue around the area.

Elevation is putting the area up; such as propping your leg up on a chair or your arm up over the chest area.

Referral means going to the Doctor in Emergency with a concussion, deep cut, broken bones or sprains.

What you should do after 2 days:

Rest to take time to allow the bruise to heal completely.  Keep ice in the freezer in plastic bags so you can quickly lay the bag over the bruised area, leaving it on for 20 minutes, then taking it off for 10 minutes.  Do this again in 2 hours.

Do not massage the area because this breaks open the blood vessels again and they will bleed more, causing more pain and swelling. 

After 1 – 2 weeks, come to us for further treatment.

Parents, Children and Grandparents

Something that is very present at the moment — now I am going to be very straight with you, as always, but with compassion — BUT today I want you to hear some bells going OFF. 

Many feel sick if they decide to stop talking to a family member because they are difficult to be with.  Others don’t know what to do, they just keep hoping everything will be okay and they get more confused and upset, taking everything to heart.

Parents are giving up on their children, children are giving up on their parents, and grandparents are giving up on their children and grandchildren.  Dads are giving up on their wife / partner and his children, Mums are giving up on their husband / partner and children.

Stop!  No matter what is going on, don’t give up on them.  Everyone goes through hard patches and if you stop talking and being with your family, nobody wins and everybody loses. 

Yes, what they are doing is hard to take, but the more you avoid being with that person, the more they may follow you, ring you, and come to see you.  Why?  Because they don’t want to lose you.

Yes, their behaviour is not the way you want.  Do you like anybody telling you how to act or what to say?  I know, it is awful.

Let me explain something very important.

We are all unique, every one of us.  Stuff happens to all of us, awful things, little things.  Maybe someone has died in your family that you were close to and miss so much, you’ve had a major trauma, and the world’s chaos is impacting the weather, whether you like it or not.

Each person has confusion, upset, fears and trauma going on every day.

Each person is wanting to be loved, hugged, understood, needed and thought well of. 

Each person is searching for freedom, happiness, calm, peace, love, respect, security and abundance.

What can you do?

Find compassion for yourself and give compassion to your family.  Look at what is there for each person in your family.  Yes, you can run away and find another life, BUT you will create the same pain and chaos.

How to Stop Anxiety – “The Next Level”

Many take tablets to stop the pain.  Anxiety often stays for a long time and is given a lot of power because that voice in your head is chatting away.  The voice, the one you listen to, you will find it always wants you to stop, leave and run away.

A recovery phase of massage treatment is the return of your energy fuel tank to nearly full and this is when you will start to feel good again.  With each regular massage comes easy movement and you’re able to enjoy each day again.

A young mum came in and she was fatigued and could not figure out why her daughter would not sleep during the day at all, and only 3-4 hours a night, then stay awake for the rest of the night.

She was an older mum of 40 years old, and was going to enjoy this time because she had been working for many years and had managed many people, she organised many things at once at work and she was a perfectionist.

What is perfect for some, others can’t stop because they are driven (they also watch one or both of their parents with perfectionist ways too.  This is called a ‘learned behaviour, but this story is for another day).  When she became a mum she did all the mum things.

She then switched on her management career perfectionist ways to cope with a small baby.  She was doing, doing, doing and the child was picking up on her mum, being busy doing, doing, doing.  Staying awake was part of her daughter’s alertness.  Mum has a regular massage and found the more she stayed in her relaxation mode, her husband became more relaxed and her daughter slept more.  She started massaging her daughter’s feet, the way I showed her.

It is not putting up with problems but finding the solutions that works.  Our children are watching and learning everything we are doing, like our good and our not-so-good behaviours. 

Adults watch adults to grow and to become more successful in business, relationships and life as well as what others think and how they act.  Be in alignment with your own down-to-earth principles of love, peace, respect, abundance, joy and being true to you and your family first.  Be aware of others’ chaos.

Pregnancy Massage

Many mums have something called “Left Field Trauma”.  This is where the birth of their baby has not been what they had hoped for.  Many mums cry when they are talking about what happened.  This can cause long-term anxiety, stress and trauma.  Many will tell you that “you’ll get over it”.  I wish it was that easy!

Easter and Anzac day is a week away. In our own family we often go home to the country and catch up with family and friends. This year we all get to take a bigger break. The schools’ holidays are nearly here; soon the teachers will come in and get their muscles de-stressed and get their energy balance up – ready for their break and next term.

Mums and Dads (including Grandparents):  Is your body ready for the holidays and all the actives of your children or are you carrying a pain or injury somewhere that needs sorting out?  Most of the time, it is the muscles that have gone into overload.

Tip #35:  When we feel pain such as headache, shoulder ache, and neck ache, your body is telling you, “I am in trouble please help me.”  Many ignore these symptoms and think more exercise, just run it out! Often when the pain get worse you’ll have pulled a muscle.

This is the body’s way of telling you I need a massage – HELP!

Tip #13: We have some people come for massage when their injury is so painful and as one lady said, she waits until her right shoulder blade muscles are really a stabbing pain. This takes longer to recover from old injures in muscles. A week old injury is easier to release than overloaded, painful and traumatised muscles that are in pain for years and years.

How Do You Deal with Your Anxiety?

Many find taking tablets stop the headache this time so what will you do, tomorrow and the next day, in the build up of tablets in your body?  I always think if I take them all the time, what happens when I might really need it for an injury?  They would be ineffective.  Others take tablets for anxiety, and often anxiety still stays very high day-in and day-out.

You may ask, “What does anxiety feel like?” It feels like fatigue, being tired, aching muscles, stomach hurts, confusion and upset.

Where does anxiety come from?  Well, it is often starts when you have had a trauma, grief, accident, or operation, and when something comes out of left field you are not prepared and you don’t know how to cope with that issue.

When you are fatigued, many people mistake this for anxiety and often depression. They often look and feel the same. When you have a massage, your energy returns and you feel great for a week, then down you go again.

When this happens, this measurement tells you that you’re working really hard and many times you can have this fatigue come on over years and years.  What happens is in your energy tank, like the fuel tank in a car, you are on your reserves. It requires 100x more effort to keep it all together.

A recovery phase of massage treatment is the return of your energy fuel tank to nearly full and this is when you start to feel good again. With each regular massage comes freedom of movement and the ability to enjoy life again.

One Lady came to me who had a fulltime job, and each night could not go out with the girls, each day she struggled to get out of bed and be at work before 10am.  Most of the time she had screaming headache after screaming headache.

Work and sleep was all she could do.  After the second massage she started to feel like she had some of her energy back and managed to stay out to 9 pm one night and the headaches had stopped!  Her body had been going into burnout. 

Have a check-in with yourself if this is sounding a little bit like you as this is becoming common in the clinic.

A massage releases the fatigue, opens the muscles and relaxes the mind to help you feel calm.  Massage stops anxiety, which causes a build up of tension in the muscles, pain in the neck and shoulders, headaches, grinding of your teeth and earaches. This happens because the muscles are doing the entire workload.

Take an office job; the amount of sitting and tapping on the keyboard causes vibration back up through your arms which causes muscle pain. Massage works really well to loosen the fibres of the muscles, allows free movement, and prevents having to have an operation down the track because pins and needles numbness is so painful.

Pregnancy Massage

Over the last few months many pregnant mums have had their babies and are now coming in to release the muscles in their neck and shoulders from holding and carrying their baby, taking them in and out of the car, and lifting and leaning over into the car.  All this can cause stomach and back pain, nausea, overwhelmed and non coping Mums.  Massage is perfect for releasing tension all over the body. 

One Mum has brought her baby with her and because mum had a regular massage while pregnant, the baby has heard the music before in the womb and was relaxed, smiling, and went off to sleep for the whole one hour massage.  It was lovely to have both mum and baby together while mum had her massage.  What a lovely way to go, her staying on top and keeping her stress minimal.

I was travelling to Melbourne over the weekend and I forgot how heavy the bags are.  Lifting and shifting bags around was very tiring along with the long walks through the airports. You know that man that keeps the flow of traffic in the area for pick up and leaving the airport?  Well, as my daughter came to pick me up, the traffic man came up and said, “Can I do that for you?”  “I said yes, thank you!”  That was so nice and helpful!  As always, we are here to help you to feel strong and confident by providing remedial massage before you pack your bags so you can be the best you can be and have a great time while away!

Tip #45:  When you are coming down with something and feel unwell, especially with some of the colds going around, don’t go and do exercise. Being unwell means your body is fatigued and needs time out from a heavy work time; overloading of stress can cause a loss in time with the family. Let your body catch up. Massage is out when you’re in the middle of a cold.  Regular massage keeps your wellbeing up and your energy flowing.

Tip #21:  Before travelling, many clients have a few remedial massages to release the tight and fatigued muscles, allowing you to walk and lift heavy objects easily and feel comfortable while you are away.

Are You Feeling Tired and In Pain?

When you find your muscles feeling heavy and it’s difficult to walk up stairs, different groups of people will tell you to build your core strength, do more stretching or exercise, or more pilates. 

Have you noticed that it is not really making the difference you want it to?  While others will say do more, push your body, you are becoming more injured and will eventually have to stop all exercise. Everyone has an answer, but nothing is helping your body.  Here at Chelsea Massage we do make a difference!  We may be a bit more expensive, but at least you know you’re doing it the right way.

It is your muscles that are getting tight.  I had a mum bring a 15 year old son to see me.  She had taken her son to doctors, sport professionals, and everywhere else she could think of. 

She was very stressed because her son, who could not stand up straight, because one shoulder had dropped while his chin was pushed forward.  After having x-rays and being probed and poked, they said he needed surgery or a brace to fix the problem.  The doctors said he had a bad case of scoliosis. He was having headaches and neck pain, and in the morning his bed was a mess from his tossing and turning all night.

Her son had four massages with us.  After a massage each week, there was a great improvement and he was standing up straight and walking with ease.  Now he is aware of how to play soccer and now he knows that a soccer ball hitting his head was causing a huge strain on his muscles, which made his muscles lock up.

 Now mum is happy!  They saw the main surgeon again and they have told him he does not have scoliosis.  The spine lined up when I unlocked all the muscles which were holding the muscles tight, and pulling down on them loosens them up and strength returns to the muscles.

Pregnancy Massage

Many are unaware of the benefits of massage right from early pregnancy through to the day you go to the hospital.  Women are working much longer, full time, up to a week or two before the due date.

The ideal way is to keep the level of stress, pain and fatigue low through Remedial Massage.  We specialise in helping you enjoy, and even love, being pregnant and it is easy to achieve long term benefits for baby’s sleeping.  This is managed easily with down to earth principles.  Also your recovery time after childbirth is decreased greatly, and with ongoing massages after you come home, even the feared baby problems that everybody talks about will be easier.

We knew of one couple who were having their little one sleeping well, but their friends who had a 5 month old child were not having it so easy.  They kept saying, “Oh it could get bad, we have to be ready when that comes…”  NO, that is not how it works!  Always be ready for changes but don’t expect your time to be like someone else’s.  If baby being at home is going well, often it’s because the parents are relaxed, loving, connected with their surroundings and peaceful knowing you are doing well.

How Your Sense Of Humour Will Save Your Life

There is not enough humour in your life. There I said it. Now smile… now laugh. Laugh as if there is no one listening. How do you feel? Happy? That’s fantastic! My job is done… almost.

What we think and say directly affects how we feel in our bodies. Our words also affect our relationships with our family, friends, co-workers and with every person we interact with on a daily basis – and importantly the relationship we have with ourselves.

The amazing aspect about our thoughts is that they are a reflection on how we see the world and you can change your thoughts and how you speak with people in an instant. The impact that you can have with humour is immeasurable and can last generations.

When you choose to live your life consistently with a sense of humour, I can guarantee your life will never be the same again. Your relationships will dramatically change for the better, your health will improve, you will live longer, you will change the lives of people you come in contact with, and you will conquer the world. Well, not really – but you may feel like you can the more you use your sense of humour.

Having a great sense of humour is the foundation for a healthy mind, body and spirit. The mind/body connection is interconnected so you need to be mindful of your thoughts. Negative thoughts can have a negative impact on every cell, in every muscle and in every bone in your body. Having positive humorous thoughts and speaking to others

Life With A Good Dose Of Humour

It starts when you decide to put on a brand new pair of glasses I like to call “funny glasses”. Now you will see life through these wonderful new set of glasses. Use them wisely!  Let everyone know that you now choose to live every day with a sense of humour, except strangers who may give you funny looks or think you are completely crazy.

“But I’m not a comedian!”, I hear you ask. Good question with an easy answer. You don’t need to be a comedian. Everyone has a sense of humour and it’s about tapping into that to change your thought patterns and therefore to have a positive impact on your health.

The next painful step is to make a decision about people who will not support your new way of living. Remember it’s not their fault that they are unable to accept the “new” you. Some people may feel uncomfortable with what they don’t understand or, they are unwilling to accept change or prefer the “old” you.

The next step is to find your muse. What sort of humour tickles your funny bone? A friend of mine loves satirical humour and reads The Onion news every day. It’s her way of looking at the world in a different way so when she steps outside into the “real” world she see’s life in a very satirical way.

Include at least a minimum of 1 hour of humour into your day for maximum results. You can listen while you are driving, on public transport with your iPod, listening in the house in the background while you are getting ready for work or getting your kids ready for school. You can spend 10-15 minutes during the day in what we will call your “humour time-out period”. You can end the day with some humour.

The next “difficult” step is to ask yourself a question whenever something that normally makes you “angry” or “upset”. Ask yourself, “How is this situation funny?” This will take some practice. Your sense of humour is like a muscle – the more you use it the easier it will become. A friend of mine was asked out on a date recently to only find out he was already engaged. Instead of being upset and angry she asked herself “How is this situation funny?”. She turned that situation it into a humorous story and therefore changed the way she felt in her mind, body and soul. That story got the attention of Woman’s Day and that made her smile. She had made others laugh and she also laughed.

Including humour into your life can work in synergy with your massage. You will feel relaxed and ready for your massage with your body receptive to the massage. And you may even want to use your sense of humour with your massage therapist.

Happy New Year everyone! Welcome to 2011 – a year that is filled with new possibilities, opportunities, love, happiness and success. Like many of you who witnessed the horror of the Queensland floods, this tragedy gave us all an opportunity to show compassion and love towards complete strangers. These strangers, most of whom, lost everything. It was a reminder to me that possessions are worthless. As I heard one person say on the news recently after floods destroyed everything they owned, “My possessions are not going to come to my grave to mourn me.” You can replace material possessions but you can’t replace human life.

It’s our relationships that we have with our loved ones, ourselves and our clients that are absolutely priceless. When I saw those images on TV of so many people rolling up their sleeves to help out their fellow human being, I knew at the core of humanity compassion was coming to life.

Yes, it will be lovely to fill up our River Murray with water and flow once again. For all the orchards and farmers along the Murray to have abundance of water once again. ♥

Speak From The Heart

When your speaking to your family, friends and clients, start to speak to each person from a thought of love and connection. When we do, our heart opens and we feel love from each person around us.

Stress closes our heart off and we feel alone and fearful. So next time open your arms wide, take a big deep breath in and think Love and Connection.

Close your eyes look at that stress at its worst, now open your eyes see where you are. Look around – see you are safe and relaxed. Now take a another BIG deep breath in and feel safe and love.

Feature Article – What is Scoliosis?

Scoliosis is a disorder that causes an abnormal curve of the spine or backbone. People with scoliosis develop additional curves to either side, and the bones of the spine twist on each other like a “S” shape.

Scoliosis is about two times more common in girls than boys. It can be seen at any age, but it is most common in those over 10 years old.

The spine has normal curves when looking from the side, but it should appear straight when looking from the front. The  curve, seen from the side, in which the spine is bent forward.

Scoliosis is where the muscles throughout the back and spine have become over used. The muscles have mattered into knots and then go under tension as the muscles get tighter and tighter from growing bones, as well as locked up muscles from sport and activities continue to overload on the muscles. The muscle one side of the spine becomes shortened, and while up high on the other side of the spine the muscles has become shortened. This continues from the left and the right side up the spine.

“When the muscles are under tension, they restrict the full length of muscle movement, become out of shape and no longer move easily.”

This type of scoliosis, the spine is normal, but an abnormal curve develops because of a problem somewhere else in the body. This is caused by muscles matting and tension in the muscles with muscle spasms in the back, neck, shoulders stomach and legs.

How do you get Scoliosis?

Children can get scoliosis from carrying heavy bags at school. They pull the heavy weight forward causing strain in the muscles neck shoulder and back. Overloading with fatigue, tiredness, and tension in muscles from sports and other activities they participate in on a daily basis. For healthy muscle fibres, athletes can have day/weekly massage to keep muscles optimally relaxed, strong and open.

When muscles are put into a brace, muscle wastage is common. This increases depression and separates friends. In time further problems arise.

Surgery and back brace are not required at an early age as massage is the main treatment, although many other treatments are recommended first. As children grow, massage makes a profound difference to their muscles.

Early Detection – Signs you can look out for

Early signs that parents can look out for is growing pains, tossing and turning in bed, pain during sleep, leg aching, curve in lower back, tummy sticking out, fatigue and stress.

Signs that the muscle is contracting are: short and sharp pains, can’t sit or stand up straight, the bed is messed up in the morning, the bed is very uncomfortable, one shoulder is higher than the other shoulder, head is tilted over to one side,  the chin is pushed up into the air, stomach aches and it is hard to breath.

How To Treat Scoliosis

Scoliosis treatments have the best result when the condition is detected early. The muscles require two weekly massages and keeping exercise to a minimum till the tension in the muscles is released. These proven methods of treating scoliosis will this is an appropriate.

Families are so important at this time of year… I’m not talking about all the gift giving – although I still get excited like a little girl about what surprise gifts I may get this year – I love my family for who they are and it’s the inner gifts that they share with me that I treasure.

Remember: Every family is made up of individual personalities. It’s important to embrace the different personalities within your family.

Tip: Talk with every person like you would like others to treat you. Be friendly, generous, happy and relaxed. And connect with your family in an authentic way.

How To Live Your Best Life

Living your best life starts when you decide to stop making excuses and start taking responsibility for where you are in your life right now.

Here are 3 foundation points to living your best life:

Remove the limitations that you have put on yourself. Limitations such as “I can’t have a committed relationship because I’m a bad person” or “I’m unsuccessful because I’m not smart enough” create negative self beliefs that prevent people from having fulfilling lives. Your own limitations  will put you in a cage that ensures you can continue to live a small life. This cage creates a false sense of security to protect you from the unknown world. If you never venture into that “unknown” you will never know what you are capable of. Once you break free of your “cage” and start stretching your comfort zone you will already have achieved greatness. Set yourself free today!

Change your focus. What you focus on is what you become. If you only focus on everything that’s “wrong” in your life it only creates negative thoughts and feelings which results in negative actions. And therefore, you are more likely to never change your current situation. You can change your focus right now – it’s as easy as that. Start with a gratitude journal. Take five minutes when you get up every morning to write down 5 – 10 things you are grateful for. This is a great way to focus on the positive aspects in your life, business and relationships. Changing your focus may feel like going against the tide but those first few steps will turn into longer strides that you will make with ease if you remain committed.

Make better choices. Every minute of every day you are constantly making choices, whether it’s this or that. There is no good or bad choices – they are all just choices. Your present situation is the culmination of all the decisions you have made in the past. Your future is unwritten so you can choose right now to make better positive choices. You can choose anything you desire and you can decide at anytime to not choose anything you don’t desire. You are that powerful! Before making a decision you need to ask yourself, “Will this choice serve my higher purpose?” A choice that serves your higher purpose allows your mind, body and spirit to move forward positively and purposefully.

Once you have removed your limitations, changed your focus and make better choices you will be living your best life. Restriction in the mind results in restriction in the body. Down to earth coaching brings a clear mind and an open heart. By having a regular massage once a month, it will allow quick expansion of the body, mind and spirit. And you’ll feel empowered to move forward with ease.

This week clients have been looking at their work and home environment. Many are still wondering why there is chaos in their business, in the work place, an in their home.

I’m talking about Integrity.

The meaning of integrity is; “doing what you said you would do, when you said you would do it.” You should do it on time, do it better than expected and if you can’t do what you say you are going to do, then ring that person in advance to change the day and time.

This is often not taught in school but many do learn from their parents about this amazing skill and used well can bring abundance, trust and they can be counted on to do what they say.

I notice that when fear is present our integrity can slip very quickly, even if other areas of our life are strong and stable. Others might think we are stubborn or wonder why we are not communicating. Meanwhile, our fears cripple us and start to affect us mentally and physically.  And rather than taking action in our lives, we become passive avoiding what we need to do.

Stress, pain, anxiety and fatigue can all continue to slip out of integrity. This can happen in the workplace, in the home or in your relationships. Check in with others and you may find your perception of yourself is completely different to how others perceive you.

Wow! I can’t believe we are coming to the end of another year. This year has flown by so quickly. We’ve had a very busy year but it’s also been an exciting year.

Lara, the team at Chelsea Massage and I are over the moon with the amount of support we have received from all our clients throughout the year. It has given us such joy to see people leave our clinic pain free after suffering for so long.

It keeps us on track teaching people how to live their lives to their full potential. Everyone can have, be and do anything they choose. By keeping our mind, body and spirit balance we can achieve the impossible.

Lara’s Quick Fitness Tip

When embarking on your fitness regime,  remember to have a massage to smooth and relax your muscles to reduce pain, cramps and injury.

Fitness should not be about how sore you get during or after sessions but the growing strength of your muscles.

Strength comes from long, relaxed and open fibres in the muscle and not from activities that create knotted, cramping and painful muscles. This only causes injury and can prevent you from participating in any further activities in the future.

Helen’s Quick Tip – Reducing Muscle Pain Caused By Shoulder Bags

A shoulder bag worn on both shoulders equals up the weight of the bag. Having the bag too low down on your back can cause stomach pain and a nauseous feeling in the mouth. You’ll notice your tummy extending outwards and you have a big curve in your lower back. This is due to the muscles being overloaded by added weight from repetition and stress. Sitting still in a chair will eventually become uncomfortable as the muscles will tighten and become stiff. When muscles become tight it pulls your posture out of alignment and causes extreme pain in every direction.

Teens Under Pressure


We see many teens and university students for massage and sometimes they just need to talk and verbalise what’s going on in their lives.

When stress is high, parents have concerns about how they are coping. Parents always have so many questions about their teens. Are they struggling more than I know? What’s really going on in their lives?


How do you know your teen is stressed?

Some teens are angry very quickly, others are very quiet and keep to themselves. Stressed teens don’t talk about what’s going on in their lives. Some signs to look out for are their eyes – are they shiny or dull? How they dress; dark clothes don’t necessarily mean that they are stressed or something is happening that they are not telling you about. But a sudden change in attitude to their appearance maybe a sign that they are stressed and unhappy.

So it’s vital for parents to watch out for some key signs. Have a constant awareness of whether your teen is happy or sad is the first step in keeping in touch with their emotions and stepping in to help when they need it.

Parents also need to keep calm and not stress out over their teen. Nothing worse than parents hovering around making sure their teen is doing the work they need to get through in the vital years of high school. The moment you lose control over your own emotions, is the moment relationships can suffer. Your teens will need you whether they know it or not. However, a stressed out parent will result in a stressed out teen!

Only the teen can choice to live their life the way they want. It is about choice and they are responsible for their choices. When parents and teens stay calm and balanced through massage, they make better choices.
