We looked after our two grandchildren a week ago and they stayed overnight.  My grandson went off to bed after getting home from celebrating my daughter’s 25th birthday; he put his head on the pillow, fell asleep and stayed asleep all night.  Grandpa is normally up at 6 a.m. most mornings but I was not quite ready for our granddaughter and grandson waking up at 6:30 a.m.  I found the cartoons DVD — and Grandma went back to bed!

Tip #38:  Are You Grinding Your Teeth?

Some people grit their teeth at night.  They’ve been to the dentist, but they can’t find anything.  To try to resolve the problem, they try this and that but they are still getting headaches into your jaw.  They go to the back and up to your eye, jaw bones, up the side of your face and around to your temples and forehead.

If you’re wondering why you keep griting your teeth at night, well it is tension from your neck, shoulders and back becoming so locked up in your muscles that the tension is tight, restricting movement, and then becomes an anxiety movement from the restriction.  Clicking, jaw locking and jaw out of alignment are common problems.

Some of the causes include whiplash from car accidents when your head is thrown around, having your mouth open too long at the dentist, chewing gum (which overloads the jaw muscles), injury to the face and neck, and long term stress.

How do you release it?  Dentists use mouth guards and some people grind through the plastic.  Others hate them and throw them out of their mouth.  But it does nothing to heal the problem and is simply a Bandaid.

Again, these are muscles that have become overloaded over a long period of time. We use techniques to unlock the knots in the muscles with remedial massage and give the person techniques to unlock the muscles and return to muscle strength and health.


Tip #46:  Are You Waking Up When You Roll Over in Bed at Night?

Getting uncomfortable in bed and waking up to roll around in bed is common when your muscles get tight.

It is not the bed or the pillow’s fault when you are uncomfortable in bed.  When your muscles are very tight, there is no stretch and cushion in the muscles.  This means the bones feel very tender due to the lack of cushion in the muscles and they get harder.  The solution is to release the tension in the muscles with remedial massage.  That way the muscles will stretch, become stronger again, move more easily, and feel lighter in your body.

I’ve been listening to the new clients coming in and having a massage.  One man said that he had been to the Doctor with terrible pain in his lower back.  He looked at me and said to me, “The doctor said I have to live with it.”  Then he looked me in the eye and asked, “Why did the Doctor not tell me to have a massage?  Often Doctors just don’t know.

Do you want to know how he found us to have his massage?  Two of his friends told him to come to Chelsea Massage because they’ve got “Magic Hands”.  Yes, he was much better when he came out of his massage.

I even have people come in that have been driving past us every day for the past 10 years and until that point had not seen the massage clinic.  The reason they had not seen us before is because we don’t see what we don’t need until we need it.  Then we see what is needed and available.

For instance, a few years ago my husband and I were fixing a little Datsun car up, wondering what colour we should pain the little car.  So we chose a bright yellow colour.  The first day I drove the car out on the road and went to a local town.  Suddenly I started to notice lots of yellow cars on the road! :)
